Abstract

The aim. This study aimed to investigate the physical development and functional state of the cardiorespiratory system in 13-year-old girls with body mass deficit. Materials and Methods. The study involved 28 girls with body mass index (BMI) values below 18.5 kg·m-2. A comprehensive assessment of morphological parameters and functional indicators was conducted for girls with body mass deficit. Anthropometric methods were used to determine physical development, physiological methods were employed to evaluate the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, and the Romberg test was utilized to assess coordination abilities. Non-parametric methods of mathematical statistics were applied for data processing and analysis. Results. The obtained results indicated deviations from age-related norms in several indicators. The BMI values and body mass index scores were significantly lower than physiological norms. The median chest circumference was 75 cm, and the 25th percentile was 70.0 cm, which were below the age-related norm. The analysis of adipose tissue distribution revealed that the highest fat content was observed in the triceps skinfold, which may indicate low levels of physical activity or imbalanced nutrition. Noticeable fat content was also found in the biceps and abdominal skinfold measurements, which could be associated with physiological characteristics during this age period. The resting heart rate and systolic blood pressure also demonstrated deviations from age-related norms towards an increase. Lung capacity and the results of the Stange and Hencha tests revealed reduced functional stability of the organism under hypoxic conditions and physical exertion. The results of the Romberg test were below the age-related norms, indicating impaired coordination abilities. Conclusions. Based on the findings, a comprehensive approach is recommended for the correction of the morphofunctional state of 13-year-old girls with body mass deficit.
